words. Just leave your request in the 'Any more instructions' panel when paying
via Paypal!
2. Original piece
of artwork
All
the original paintings on this site can
be purchased (unless marked 'sold' on the
price list). Owing to the problems shipping large framed artwork and
possible damage, they are supplied in the 'raw' state without mounts
or frames but signed as indicated to the right. Most watercolours are
painted on
stretched 140lb Bockingford heavy-weight watercolour paper.
3. Limited-edition print on specially coated 300gsm paper and set into 10" x 8"
cream mount but not
framed
Our mounts are cut
from high quality board using a computer-aided cutting technique that guarantee total
accuracy. Please note the dimensions are the
extreme edge of the mount.

4. Signed, numbered and mounted print on watercolour paper in 10" x 8" yew frame
The frames are mitred and hand-assembled using superior
wooden profiles and includes backing board and hanging device.

5. A4 signed and
numbered limited edition print
Where possible, we can also supply high quality A4
prints. Like the originals, we do
not supply large prints mounted or framed but are
posted flat.
All the prints are individually printed only by the artist
- this ensures a near perfect match every time. Each print is signed and
numbered as a limited edition as indicated on the right, and are printed
directly onto specially treated heavy-weight paper prepared for the printing process we use.

INTRODUCTION TO THE
PORTFOLIOS
Many of the
paintings are of Blaenau Ffestiniog - a town
that sits in an area outside the
Snowdonia National Park.
This is an area where the wild scenery is savagely scared by major slate
excavation and
punctuated by low grey slate mills and strangely pyramidal mountains of slate waste.
These intrusive man-made shapes and structures hold a
fascination for me that is just as strong as the rugged landscape in which they
are inscribed.
The relationship of the predominately Victorian architecture of the town with
the backdrop of cold grey slate mingling with the warm ochres of the abruptly
rising granite mountains appear curiously unambiguous.
All the watercolours, even those of the more desolate and
remote areas of Llyn Cymorthin and Cwmystradllyn, explore the relationship
between
man's endeavour to forge a living from some of the most unforgiving but
beautiful landscapes in Wales, and the landscape itself. The six Portfolios are
as follows:
Portfolio 1: Blaenau Ffestiniog
- Slate mining town built during the 19th century at the head
of the Vale of Ffestiniog.
Portfolio 2: Tanygrisiau - A 'satellite' village of Blaenau nestling under the Moelwyn
mountains.
Portfolio 3: Porthgmadog
- Bustling town build around the old slate-shipping harbour,
and Borth-y-Gest - a nearby sleepy seaside village.
Portfolio 4: Cwmystradllyn - A massive and remote glacial valley to the north of Porthmadog.
Portfolio 5: Molwyns and Snowdonia in Winter Range - Stunning mountain range rising to the north of Blaenau Ffestiniog plus 6 new Snowdonia landscapes.
Portfolio 6: Maenofferen and Cymorthin quarries - Now largely abandoned slate mines above
Blaenau Ffestiniog and Tanygrisiau.
New Work:
A range of watercolours completed
recently
plus the 'Snowdoinia in
Winter' series.
